Underworld: Awakening of Girl Power!

Yesterday manage to go and catch a movie at pavilion with someone that I'm fond of. I'm pretty amazed by technology today.

I've just purchased the tickets a day before via my Iphone app and with a scan of the 2d barcode via my phone, the automated gate allowed that many person to enter to the entrance of the movie halls. At least I'm doing mother nature a favor of reducing ticket stubs :D

Oh yes, this is the forth installment of the underworld franchise and I've been following it since the first movie. Well it has vampires, lycans (werewolves), chick in tight latex Ala matrix style, gun fights, gore, goth, a decent love story? and pretty good soundtracks. Considering this is the continuity from the second movie of Underworld as the third one was actually a prequel for the entire series.

New viewers of this franchise will not be lost in this latest installment because there was a brief introduction of all previous 3 series. On the side note, hall 13 of GSC surpasses the view-ability since the projection was crystal clear / life like / opera presentation. It was watching underworld live version :D

Story wise, there was a great purge going on where lycans and vampires are getting exterminated by humans. The heroine and her lover made a call for leaving the city however sadly failed and ended up stasis for 12 years.

As the heroine woke up from her slumber, she was pretty lost and from there trying to find her other half. Among the heat of it, she found another truth over the 12 years period of hibernation. Anyway don't wanna spoil more for you guys. Go watch it.

Story line was... wait a minute whats up with all this family matters/value in movies lately, from real steel to Viral Factor and now this movie too. anyway the director kinda grasp my attention towards the plot has well as a clean presentation of the feeling shown by the mother and child as well has her lost beloved one.

The movie also makes you grip your seat for its action pack thrill ride takes you all over the place of the screen has John Woo style gun fights + gory neck ripping, blood gushing scene would surely not bore the viewers out.

For those that has follow on the series, I must say in my humble opinion that this new installment certainly did not disappoint me. The effects are superbly well done, as you can see Kate Beckinsale still has her groove and stylish finishers. A few good fighting scene where a werewolf was trying to get the best of her. Of course the werewolf cheated and used steroids and gets a few dosage where you would never expected.

The whole story evolves around the heroine, and her offspring where she holds the key of uber supreme power for the lycans. So yea there was a twist in the plot as well and the finale fight scene was quite a little predictable but it was fun to see how it did played out.

The movie ended short when both my acquaintance and me was just getting the climax of the movie. 1 hour and 30 mins time frame and yet so much that should be rolling out to make it a 2 hour show. But the director ensures us that the movie franchise does not end there.

So, most likely there would be a 5th installment of the movie where I can presume the new vampire dude would fall for that small hybrid girl and they would kick off another point of view of the whole underworld franchise. Who knows, that's just my hypothetical theory.

In conclusion its seriously a nice show to pay to watch at the cinema, be warned tho, human which dislike blood gashing out or scene of brutality should not be advisable to watch this movie. Overall I would give a 7.5/10

The Viral Factor makes bolehland proud!!

Should be called The Family Factor instead. Anyway just got home from my first HK movie I've watched this year. The main reason why the heck did I've indulged myself into this specific film was, not because Dante Lam's previous award winning Beast Stalker & Stool Pigeon. Not even the main cast (Nicholas Tse & Jay Chou) was the main highlight for me to went to watch the movie. But low behold the photos below :D

Haha.. since the NDA has been lifted due to the release of the movie, I can try to recall my small contribution to the movie !! :P I actually acted as an extra in the movie. Sadly the scene was so fast I manage to catch a glimpse of my mirage chasing down Nicholas Tse during the scene where he tries to escape from the High Court of Kuala Lumpur.

So anyway back to the story, very typical bio-weapon, let loose a mutated virus and be the person with the only medicine and vaccine for it kinda movie flavor. But throughout the entire movie, it didn't make me feel the importance of the virus but more of a Cat & Mouse chase. Where the Cat (Jay Chou) miraculously has life span of 2 week to survive when he got a bullet stuck in his brain.

The opening is very much like a scene from Battlefield 3 map called Sharqi Peninsula!!! where a fire fight broke out during a escort of some scientist.

But overall being a Malaysian, I was pretty impressed on how the director work his way into the highlights of Kuala Lumpur. Majority of the scene was shot in Kuala Lumpur golden triangle.

Not to forget places which I've been so often during my college days!!! Some not to forget areas was the busy KL Sentral, the walkway of Pavilion and the most memorable of them all was the chase scene on Jalan Pudu / Jalan Raja Chulan. It seriously portrayed how crazy the traffic was in the show as well and also that scene reminds me of how I travel up and down from that crazy street just to get to my customer side during working days. =__=

Action was mostly non-stop once it kicks off, chase after chases from foot, to car, to trains and even helicopters ! not to mention the amount of freaking PDRM amazes me in the movie but not in reality.

Overall the feel of the movie was mostly felt towards a family affair instead to the actual movie was trying to plot on as an action flick. Like usual Jay Chou slaps on his expressionless acting but I guess it's been improving over the times. ( no wonder the director was smart enough to drop a bullet into his brain so he can continue being expressionless throughout the movie).

On the other hand, over the top bad ass thief+gangster+fugitive+anti-hero Nicholas Tse acting. Sadly some crying scene he did it too overboard where sometimes it seems over doing it. (please note there was some cendol oozing out from his nose too)

I can't wait to snag a DVD copy of this show to try to get my name on the credit rolls and also try to capture the mirage scene of myself :P

In Conclusion, it's really a good movie to watch and Malaysian citizen should be proud of it since it opens to a wider audience of our country main capital city. It's also more of less a softcore version of Real Steel where family bonds matters the most in the heist of this action movie. 7/10

Gosh! a few days of absentees, due to a hectic work life this first & second week of 2012. Anyway after had the time to wind down from all my hype and jive on work. I've stumbled on a really really fascinating website.

Mission Impossibru : Ghost Protocol

Yea, been awhile since I've made reviews for movie, so here is one movie which is a must watch for die hard fans of Tom Cruise or any newbies that are not familiar with this franchise.

The movie kicks off, where a new team of IMF infiltrate and initiate a "Prison Break" scheme, with in this few segment of scene. As long you guys watched Shaun of the Dead, then you guys will get the cameo done by Nick Frost together with one of his best buddy, Simon Pegg.

One of their under-rated dark comedy movie which I first watched like 5 years back ago. Highly recommended to those that yet to watch it.

Or the most recent movie, the duo acted was non other than PAUL. Please do your self a favor and go watch this pretty decent comedy movies from the both of them.

Anyway back to MI:GP review, during the appearance of Nick Frost, I totally burst out laughing in the cinema and knew it was gonna be a roller coaster ride for me through the entire movie. Sadly it was just a brief moment screen time for that guy.

The show, balance both sense of humor together with action and a little dash of cheesiness, made it one of the most enjoyable no brainer action pack movie of last year.

Surprisingly, you also get to have a really good look on Tom Cruise which seems like he has not aged over the years. Seriously from the previous movies he acted, my respect for him has been weight over hundred folds more. Further to add, most of the stunt scene is actually done by him.

As the story unfolds, we get to learn that a mastermind had framed IMF into the bombings as well as trying to start World War III. The catch was, that IMF was under a lock down mode called Ghost Protocol, where they are on their own without any out side support, just a train coach of gadgets at their disposal.

The movie is seriously has most of the thrills that will not disappoint movie goers. The one main reason i watched this was because of an early review on Rotten Tomatoes stating that MI:GP was rated 100%

and seriously its worth your bang of money to go and watch it!

Another shocker was watching Anil Kapoor getting the best from the main actress. Boy oh boy that was the most an epic scene. To add, the most unforgettable dialogue, was "but you have to find me" represent the mainstream play of most of the Bollywood movies, where the actor/actress plays hide and seek with each another.

In conclusion, not to spoil the movie further, considered that this has been yet one of Tom Cruise best movie to date for his Mission Impossible movie series. I went into the movie with high expectation, and I really had that exact thrill ride on the movie chair. 9.5/10

(p/s: can't wait for the next installment so long J.J. Abrams is gonna touch this franchise, I'm so gonna watch it.)

Obsession

Why does one get this kinda symptom? is it a mere emotional changes between your mental state of mind thinking and your rational behavior mix into one. Or maybe, it is just how certain humans are born is such way that, they will have this strong sense of action...

Let's take a few steps back to overview such doing and figure out why does it occurring on daily basis. First of all, when someone is in need of that certain object, he/she will find his/her way into obtaining it. This is good to understand that, most of us pretty much don't realize how much of an obsession person we are till we actually sit down a moment to review our intentions.

To me, obsession is quite on the verge of being negative attitude and emotion forward. greed, possessiveness, jealously, envy, selfish and a few others comes into my mind. Even if there are still all the bad sides of its wheel of nature, I do find a small quantity value of determination.

So for others, what do you think obsession means to you ?

In Time of Failure....

I cannot express how much rage I have for this movie. Before that, let me wish all my Indian friends as well those around the world a merry Deepavali, may you have lotsa murukus and mutton curry.

My expectation for this movie thought it was gonna be a good sci-fi flick. It was a total let down, with corny acting by Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. Movie started off with people trying to live their lives within their giving time. Their digital clock on their left arm starts ticking when they hit puberty (age 25) which they don't aged from then on till their clock runs out of time.

The whole movie is does not give you a plot, well it does but very much like the classic robin hood type of heist where both of the main cast robs from the rich and gives to the poor and of course their currency was:- time. The whole plot of the story was very straight forward about catching fugitive with out any twisting mind blowing sense of direction. Seem like the director just wants to focus on the main story about the power of time and how the rich remain so called immortal and where the poor dies due to out of time or like what the movie called it "Timed out"

Pretty much my last paragraph sums up the plot of the story where they keep doing it after robbing from one of the main cast's rich tycoon dad. Seriously, this movie does not make any sense. I thought they would at least explain how they was giving such genetic modification to giving them those digital clocks on their skin. Sadly that left us viewers hanging.

Not even Olivia Wilde's death in the movie can save it, (so little screen time for her) I wished the director should had let her be the heroine instead of a side cast which timed out.

Lets keep this sort, since elaborating this movie review keeps me on the edge of raging more.

Summary:- If you have extra change to waste, please do not waste it on this movie instead get a nice Starbucks drink instead. 3/10 is my verdict for this movie. Never in my entire life that I watched a nonsense movie.

Finally ... the country down under...

firstly do mind me if my posting is a whole wall of text....currently on my trusty n900 posting today. As I am typing this out, I'm actually on the road with my colleague making our way downunder. Yeap, that's right.. the land of Phua Chu Kang and ranked the 35th in the world for chili crabs.(yet to try it out)

So lurkers might be wondering what the heck is he going there for? the answer: work. Staying overnight first at Thristle hotel and the next day to customer data centre for fax solution, faxcore server deployment and configuration. Maybe if time permits, I could blog abit on the hotel (it's the second time around lodging there). The customer is a financial insitute corporate, (hint:- the logo has a tiger on it) .

Fast forward, weather wasn't on our side where it was scattered rains here and there. The hotel room wasn't over impressive and not to bad. But a few ranting would go to the hard latex pillow we had furthermore a leaking shower.

So our journey begin the follow day to Singapore, my colleague had to drop me off first at some Data center before venturing off for his business meeting. The best moment was, we totally forgotten to had breakfast before zooming into the country and with god mercy, we had only 7 SGD.

The building opposite the data center was a small cafeteria, so we popped over to have a quick breakfast, Nes-ICE + chicken pao which sums up to about 6.80 SGD. We talk to ourselves stating the obvious like we are very poor buggers in the land of Merlion.

Anyway, my colleague left and I was off to the Data Center. Was greeted with another System Engineer guy and to my amazed they had those retina scan to enter their office... like seriously.... those sci-fi movies with high clearance access with those eye scans.

Off to the staging room where I installed the fax card with a breeze and thought that installation of FaxCore would go around 30-45 mins. However that wasn't the case, the installation was interrupted with a dreaded failure of creating some SQL table on the pre-install SQL on the OS.

With the help of the staff for providing me their USB Singtel 3G dongle, I've manage to search the root cause. It was actually, multiple installation of SQL in different drives, (I've notice multiple folders in C drive as well as D drive) therefore the registry of the SQL installation left a previous configuration trace which does not resolved its path for some data log.

A quick lurking around the web brought me to a KB of Microsoft which helped me in fixing this issue http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836873. Of course I used the manual way, since i know my way around registry editor.

This pretty much drag the installation time to an additional 1 hour which was not what I expected.

After completing, we rushed back to our hotel for a quick rest and the following day my colleague had a last minute appointment. As for me? yea i just laid back in the hotel room killing my time resting. Haha... consider a day break from work...

We hit home on 21st October where it was my first time driving a Harrier back 100KM with fuel gauge at E. Boy that was pretty nerve wrecking ride when it was heavy downpour plus no gas station for about 10-20 mins when the E was blinking.

Oh well, summary Singapore is a clean place to be but for a holiday spot for me would not be a favorable place for me.

Next weekend I will be on my getaway trip to Macau + Hong Kong. Hope I have the time to put up some photos.

Real Steel Slow update

Greetings my fellow lurkers, seems I've been caught up with work and many excitements in life. Anyway back to blogging the living crap of of my life. I'll post up some of my review of the many big screen movies I've watched and the games that I recently purchased.

Firstly, with out further a due yesterday I get to watch the movie Real Steel.

The build up the story unfolds when Charlie Kenton founds out that his long lost 10 years GF had kicked the bucket, leaving him with a son that is 9 to 10 years old.

Max Kenton: I'm 11 !!!

Anyway the character that Hugh Jackman is playing a no good, hard headed father which doesn't much care much for the well being of his son. He still shows some affection when he did gave his son a burrito. ( I like how movies give out small hints to think about the relationship between father and son as the movie unfolds)

I won't give spoilers for the movie too much. But it's been awhile where movies took me for a ride of my time. My expectation for this movie was supposed to be an all out gruesome machine battle royale, however it was not the case. For me, I personally dived into both father and son role in the movie and thought it was pretty late for a good movie which should be launched for Father's day occasion.

The fight scenes really caught me to my cinema chairs with a well good display of CGI effects adding up with the raw sheer sound of metallic punches. Pretty impressed with the overall presentation.

As for story wise, it's like daddy trying to work his way back from its debt while handling his kid for a duration of time before his foster parents come back from a cool holiday trip. Of course there is money involved. Charlie worked his way up from failures and finally work together with his 9 to 10 year old kid in mini arena fights which then leads em to WRB league Robot together with a robot that his kid found in a scrap metal yard. (Max Kenton: I said I'm 11!! ) .

But the whole story actually develops between father and son relationship. Thus saying the robot, A.T.OM. was actually a shadow image of Charlie life if viewers can think of it that way, then the whole movie would be more meaningful. I must say, the director is very brilliant if making me think of it that way since it was excellent subliminal message of feeling that the robot was actually Charlie's past life and the life that it is going to be.

As for the finale scene, it was a very realistic good ending with some emotional moments with nice camera panning between the son and his dad.

Also not to forget, there will be an upcoming sequel for Real Steel, and this might be on my to-watch-list. And I notice they heavily or purposely adding ADS for major companies in a few scene. Probably marketing strategy or maybe co-sponsor for the Robot parts and communication gizmo which is in the movie.

Summary: I would recommend people watching this movie, but not your average B-grade movie where you just munch on popcorn and straight up plot. There are a few hidden agenda of a movie which pretty much touched me. As a verdict i would rate this movie a 8/10

P/S: not to forget the game which is on both xbox live and PSN.. it didn't quite attract me tho since I was hoping for it to be cell-shaded but unfortunately not.

In the world of RIFT~~~

It's been awhile since I've updated my blog, not like anyone cares about it. Anyway during my absence was due to a MMORPG that I was playing since May this year till September 2011.

Yes I was so hooked up that, I've neglected my duties on posting news and what not.....

But what made me realized was that I've hit the end-game content over the 5 months and it was no longer a fun game to play. I've completed both end-game PVE and also PVP as far as your single player capabilities could offer. What really put me off is the content progression of the endgame raids. It only resets once a week, and there is only 3 20-man raids content. Considering the existing guild that I've joined only raid those 3 instance 3 days in a week.

Anyway goodbye RIFT since it was more of a chore to log into it and run guild raids which is taxing for both mentality and time.

I can't argue that,

- Yes it's a pretty well made MMO
- Yes it's a WoW Clone (pretty much a norm for more MMO's now of days.)
- Pretty much hectic and fun till you maxed out factions reputation, PVP ranking and fully geared with out guild raids.

So bon voyage RIFT. I'll just sit back chillax till Diablo III hits before the end of the world cometh. :D

Yes you heard it right, I shall declare this year to be the "Year of Zombies"

Reason given there are so many many and I must say, many Zombie stuff going on the mainstream entertainment of today. Before venturing further let me give you a quick run down on some facts about zombie.

So after some stress day for failing to get the JPN flight, I went solo to watch Resident Evil: After Life in 3D.

Yes, you can call me slowpoke but I did infact bought the tickets for RM16 at MBO, a quite new cinema complex which took me a 5 mins drive from home.

I can't complain due to the cinema was like uhmm.... let's see, 3 other person inside of it. Yup only 4 people watch that show. So i felt like it was my personal space, while conquering the center back with the best view you can get.

Okay, as for the storyline its very B rated which might hit C grade movie flick but barely survive due to the 3D and tried so hard to be an A rank movie but failed in someways.

I went into the screening with an expectation only to see the 3D technology, and I found that its much more better than bringing in a high expectation on the movie itself because in the end of the day it will not be enjoyable. So I'm going to emphasize more on the 3D aspect.

From this perspective, in 3D mode the movie scene is more sharper and crisp comparing to regular 2D screening I've watched. It feels more towards HD 3D. Further more there are many many scenes which are solely catered towards 3D e.g. the meadows, the time stopping, rain, some battle fights & and a few more details.

Personally anyone watching 2D, will be totally disappointed by such cinematic display on certain scene which only can be done justice on 3D.

But as for the 3D, I don't see much of significant effects on certain scene which supposed to be for 3D. But the best of the best scene is when battling it out with executioner. That scene really does shine out and show the true potential of 3D effect. The rest tried but was under par.

As for the story mode. I must say it is very spoofy, since this year feels like the year of the zombie. The producer might have some sense of humor which adds a little sprinkle of Left 4 Dead + Prison Break + Cold Fear + RE5 spoof fest. If you guys play tons of survival horror games, I'm sure you guys can spot it out.

The irony of Chris dressing up in a prisoner suit is also the actor from prison break and more to add to the spoof, they are stuck in a PRISON. Supporting actors which resembles Left 4 Dead and not to forget the ship scenes which reminds me of Cold Fear.

Oh and definitely there will be a sequel and for my prediction and you will hear it first only on subimpact.net, Sheva will be a male (photo related) on the next Resident Evil Franchise Movie :D

Till then... may the year of the zombie be fruitful :D next time Resident Evil : In the End (Yakuza Spoof)

Summary: Recommended to watch in 3D so go watch it in cinema, unless you got 3DHD at home so i suggest you to rent it in 3D format... Overall I'll give 6/10

JAPAN RM99 = EMO sub

Around 11am today Air Asia had open a promotion to Japan for RM99. However, supposed to book with Kaivan, and due to his fickle thinking and I can still quote "I cannot think anymore..." - Kaivan. Well I can't blame him, because it was first time booking air flights..

Due to that all fiasco the RM99 booking is now gone. Right now, just hoping for Air Asia to open a few seats of RM99 again. Oh well, time to sit at the corner and QQ. Today I can say FML

Devil - M. Night Shyamalan

Just back from Devil screening, and as a summary its more towards Christianity moral type of story. There is a twist at the end, but i never kinda like it. I feel Mr. Night has serving us B movies since lady in the water.

Sadly the story is about 5 person stuck in an elevator, luckily we don't need to bare the whole 1hour and 45 mins to watch them in the elevator. There are some moment in some scene which will make you feel the intensity and i really do highlight, SOME not many. My expectation of this movie would be gory but fails to see as it is due to a mild gore scenes throughout the movie.

There are other scene which inter-connects to what is happening. The movie ends by giving out the moral of the story in Christianity faith. I DO RECOMMEND Christians to watch this movie so that you can review your faith in your religion again.

overall its a good movie but just watch it at home better. 7/10

Hmm... since the launch of PS3 MOVE. It has gotten me poisoned, and pretty much tempted to get it. But sadly like always, gotta love Klang (*sarcasm*) It's not to be found anywhere.

So I might probably get it from play-asia which is around RM170 for the dildo like stick or worst case scenario, I'll probably need to head out of Klang to hunt for it.

Duplicate Contacts! Exchange 2010 STD CD = BAD

Arrrgh!.. My new company exchange 2010 just came up and behold!! I get duplicated contacts.

Well what a relief anyway, after a long struggle of getting a new exchange 2010 server up. About a week of deployment, outlook connectivity with Exchange 2010 Standard from the disc provided by the Microsoft Action Pack Subscription keeps on telling me my newly deployed exchange 2010 is still in maintenance mode and contact the administrator. So I lurk around, and found there is another installer called Exchange 2010 SP 1. I gave it a whirl on a hyper-v and it worked FLAWLESSLY right after getting crap load of KB hot fixes from Microsoft.

So for summary: NEVER USE the EXCHANGE 2010 STANDARD CD which provided by Microsoft Action Pack Subscription.

Project Thermal PS3: SUCCESS!!!

After hours of dismantling my PS3, finally I've manage to swab the spanking new thermal compound on my cell processor and RSX GPU. Sounds easy eh? well not so true..

First and foremost, I had to travel to Digital Mall to get my thermal compound. There are none to be found at my area, except for cheap versions. Secondly the guide was for the older PS3 version where the Motherboard is different. Mine is CECHH06 model.

Anyway with a little trial and error and patience, I've manage to dissemble it. Below are some of the photos I took during the process.

After successfully completing Final Fantasy XIII yesterday around 6pm. Finally, I manage to boot up the borrowed game from Richard. And behold the cowboy setting for this game. Imagine GTA IV in the western days.

Half way down the story mission, suddenly my PS3 broke a wailing sound like a jumbo jet. I was like holy cow, my PS3 fan is hitting the high mode. The longer I played, the more disturbed it becomes. I stop my gaming session, worrying it would make my PS3 retired for good.

By lurking around the web, it seems majority of PS3 users played RDR on Fat PS3 has similarity issues on the loud propelling fan sound. And majority advices on replacing the stock thermal compound.
